"Vse Svoi" KVN Team: "We play the image of intelligent punks from Kirzhach"
In September, the KVN team of the Kirzhach Engineering College "Vse Svoi" will once again represent their city at the International Festival of Children's KVN Teams.
Every year, this event gathers more than 100 teams from all over Russia. The best teams will get into the new TV season of the children's KVN, and will also be able to perform in front of the residents of Anapa at a gala concert. "Vse Svoi" is the only "professional" (that is, taking part in official league tournaments) KVN team in Kirzhach. Although it is a children's team but it has great experience in the world of humour – since 2000.
During this time, the kids travelled not only around the neighbouring cities with performances but also took part in the well-known projects "KVN School", the KVN Summer Cup, in the seasonal games of the Highest Youth League in Moscow. The members of the team, however, were constantly changing over the years because children grow up quickly. It is good that it the leader and ideological inspirer of the team, Svetlana Vasina, is always in her office. We talked to her.

Bank employees, even when they help old people cross the road, keep 3% by inertia.
– Svetlana, how was the team created?
– The team was created when I just came to work at the college. I'm a technician in general. I teach the technology of mechanical engineering and metal processing industries. But I was lucky with the students. Already during my first year I had very creative students. At first, we started to prepare together New Year's performances, concerts for the Teacher's Day etc. And then we decided to restore the college team that had existed way back in the past. We came up with the name – "Inveterate Students". The team existed like this for nine years. And then we were invited to take part in the project of the Russian Youth Union "KVN School" for students under 18. Then we went to Anapa for the first time.

Mama's little boy claims that this is inherited as he is very much like the granny's little boy.
– And how did you perform?
– Not really good. The facilitators looked at us and rejected everything. They said that everything was wrong: the name and the style. Against the others, we looked like amateur performers. We were dressed without any idea, just in classic suits with ties. And our humour seemed for everyone to be clownish and conceivable only by us. The editors changed our name to "Vse Svoi" and recommended us trying the new image: small-town punks, hooligans but at the same time intelligent. Since then, we position ourselves in this way. And we changed the stage costumes too. Now we perform in sportswear with an owl, the symbol of Kirzhach. In general, we learned a lot that year: how to write jokes, present yourself on stage, speak into the microphone, where to stand so that you can be seen and so that the sound does not fade away etc.
– How did the change of the image affect the team?
– Since then, we have been performing more professionally. The audience likes the team, plus there are a lot of real achievements. We won twice in the rating of the festival teams, according to the results of which we got into the TV version. We went to Moscow to the KVN House, performed for the STS channel and the host was Alexander Maslyakov Jr. Last year, we participated in the online festival where we became winners in the nomination "The Most Active Team".

Semenov, the locksmith was a little upset and left the banquet after he had learned that Verka Serdyuchka was Andrey Danilko.
– What are the conditions to become a member of your team?
– The specifics of the team is that all my children are from the small town. They are shy, not always goal-oriented. Therefore, the main thing here is that a person speaks correctly and does not hesitate to speak in front of the audience. This can already be enough. My goal is not to win in KVN but to attract as many children as possible to this movement. To show that even in small provincial towns, children can be intelligent, talented and have great sense of humor. And it is also very important to keep them busy. After all, to write a joke you need to work on yourself: read books, watch movies, be aware of the news. Every day we stay after classes and watch the performances of other KVN teams together, discuss and brainstorm topics for future performances. By the way, it's not easy to come up with children's jokes. The range of topics is limited: school or family but we can also joke about politics sometimes.
– How many team members are you going to take to the festival in Anapa this year? And what will you show to the judging panel?
– Now there are 6 people in the team. We will take a lot of fresh jokes with us to the festival. And the editors will decide what will be included into our performance. At the rehearsal they say what jokes should be out and what can stay. The performance itself lasts only five minutes. Most likely, we will perform traditionally: first we will make a "line" when everyone at a time tells about himself. Then we will show a short story and in the end we will highlight the main message of our performance.
– What is the teams's dream?
– We want to enter the 50 best teams of the festival and perform in the gala concert in Anapa, which is held in the municipal Theatre House. The kids would be thrilled. After all, a huge number of spectators will come there. We don't dream of more yet. Nowadays, winners are those who have professional authors. If you want to win, then pay. We don't have such opportunities. Even to go to Anapa, you need 20 thousand roubles per person. This is for accommodation, tickets, food, medical care, security. In Kirzhach, such money is a fair monthly salary, so parents are not always able to pay even for a trip. We are thankful to the sponsors as without them we would not have reached the festival. Beko factory, for example, has been paying for the tickets to Anapa and back for everyone since 2010. They have also helped us twice to sew the stage costumes for the team according to our designs. We are very grateful for such support.
