Events that have made Beko a unique brand that creates products of the highest quality for customers. Let's recall the main dates of this history and those who stood at the origins of the creation of the company all together.

Today Beko is one of the leading brands in the world market

AT THE ORIGINS
Beko is a world-famous brand under which the Turkish company Arçelik, founded in 1955 by engineer Vehbi Koc, produces home appliances.
Today it is part of the Koç Holding group.

Factual background
Beko household appliances are bought in the world every 2 seconds.

Beko is the third largest manufacturer of household appliances in Europe.

More than 400 million people from 130 countries of the world trust Beko products.

More than 1400 employees work at the plant in Russia
3000 washing machines and 2000 refrigerators are produced daily.
The future founder of the company Vehbi Koç was born in 1901 in Ankara. From his youth, he was engaged in trade, his entrepreneurial talent helped him achieve brilliant success in this field: Koç became a Turkish representative of such large companies as Ford and Standart Oil.
And a little later he began to create his own enterprises himself.

In 1938 Koç established Koç Ticaret A. Ş.
in Istanbul. After 10 years, he convinced General Electric Company of the need to establish a lamp factory in Turkey and contributed to this by co-founding a new company.
In the 1950s, Koç made a serious decision - to invest in local companies manufacturing products that could later replace imported goods - automotive spare parts, radiators, electrical appliances, textiles, and others.

In order to organize the management of his production assets from a single center and to ensure their rapid development, in 1963 Vehbi Koç established the first Koç Holding in Turkey. After that, new companies began to appear one after another.

Over 75 years of work, Vehbi Koç has created a corporation that includes more than 100 companies in 30 countries of the world with an annual turnover of $ 34.5 billion (2006), 95,000 employees, more than 14,000 distributors, agencies and after-sales service enterprises, and which in 2007 ranked 190th out of 500 and became the only Turkish company included in the Global Fortune List.

Vehbi Koch considered charity to be his duty. He actively contributed to the construction of the Eye Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine of the Istanbul University, established the Institute of Cardiology, the Turkish Education Foundation, and the Middle East Technical University student dormitory. In 1969, the Vehbi Koç Foundation was created to deal with education, health and culture issues.
To this day, the foundation helps to implement a lot of projects related to culture, medicine and education.
In 1987, the Vehbi Koç Private Lyceum was established where teaching in foreign languages was carried out, and the Vehbi Koç Foundation University was created in 1993.

Arçelik sales and marketing offices are located in 27 countries of the world
ВЕКО – START-UP
In 1954, Koç, together with the Bejerano company, registered the trademark under the name already known as Beko. Just under this brand, two companies were going to produce canned food and tomato paste. The brand name is a combination of the first letters of the Bejerano and Koç corporative names.

However, the opening of this business was accompanied by certain problems, and soon Vehbi Koch shifted the Company production into a different direction.
The Beko plant received a new name - Beko Tiçaret A. Ş. After the conclusion of an agreement between Arçelik and General Electric, the plant began to produce light bulbs. Beko Tiçaret A. Ş. was at that time the first plant in Turkey specializing in lamp production.

Arçelik company produces a full range of large and small household appliances under the Beko brand
But the entrepreneur did not stop at these achievements, continuing to develop his business in various directions. One of these directions was the production of household appliances. Already in 1959, Arçelik released its first washing machine, and a year later the first refrigerator came off the assembly line of this plant. Gradually, Koç began to tune-up the production of other types of household appliances. By 1977, it became already a mass production. The equipment was produced under the Beko brand and quickly became popular among buyers. And the Arçelik company has turned into the largest manufacturing enterprise in Turkey, and remains the same up to the present day.
Recently, the Grundig trademark has become a part of Arçelik company.
Products under this brand will also be manufactured at the Russian plant "Beko"
ONLY FORWARD!
In the mid-1970s, the leaders of Arçelik agreed that each plant should specialize in manufacturing of the single type of products, which served as a boon to their new construction project.

Arçelik, together with Turk Demir Dokum Company, created a new enterprise called Ardem to manufacture heaters and kitchen stoves. By 1979, a factory producing vacuum cleaners began operating in Izmir. The Arçelik product range expansion continued until 1996. During this period, two more factories were built - the first for the production of dishwashers and the second one for the production of air conditioners. Developing, improving the company and significantly expanding the range of its products, Vehbi Koç did not forget about the most important thing - the needs of the customers.

Therefore, in addition, Koç has improved a targeted system for home delivery of products to customers. In 1999-2000, the structure of the Arçelik company underwent significant changes: Ardem and Arçelik companies merged into one enterprise, and Koç Holding Durable Consumer Goods Group is undergoing certain reforms, as a result of which Beko separates from Beko Tiçaret A.Ş.
and joins Arçelik A. Ş.

Having achieved success in its homeland, Turkey, by 1990, Arçelik Company began exporting its products to the European market. For this purpose, the Beko trademark was chosen, which was originally created in order to become a world-famous brand.
