Smart League demonstrates who is the best
The results of the annual Smart League competition, which our plant has been holding between of Kirzhach College students since 2014, have been summed up. Three winners will be granted personalized scholarships and a start in the profession. In total, 11 students have now arrived to our workshops for practical training. And, with no doubt, some of them will find their favorite occupation at our plant and observe professional prospects.
“League of Smart People” – this is roughly how the name Smart League can be translated from English. This competition is organized for those who undergo specialized secondary education in mechanical engineering, in particular, for students of the Kirzhach College of Technology and Service (former mechanical engineering college), with which our plant has been closely cooperating for many years. However, starting from the next year it is planned to attract students not only from Kirzhach. Negotiations with teachers from the Kolchugino Polytechnic College have been already held and the possibility of attracting students from the Alexandrovsk College of Industry and Law is also being considered. Competition will extend.

Traditionally, Smart League includes two stages: theoretical and practical. At the first stage, knowledge of the participants, their general potential and abilities, especially for a technical type of thinking are evaluated using tests - therefore, the questions can be sometimes quite “tricky”; it requires not just knowledge of the subject, but also understanding of operational principles of various devices, and simply guessing correct result will not have effect. Those who successfully completed the first stage continue the competition at the second stage, in the workshops. Their task is to disassemble and assemble the provided device or unit, take measurements of parts, and carry out calculations based on these measurements. Each task must be completed within the certain time and points are awarded for correct completion. Jury members are presented by the plant employees and managers and college teachers, who have the opportunity to check the level of students’ training, identify gaps and, if necessary, make further adjustments to the learning process, giving exactly the skills that graduates will need to use in their work. In 2023, 13 students took part in the first stage of the Smart League, and 6 in the second stage.

– It was very difficult to select the finalists, because all participants performed very well and score gap was minimal. The level of students' training has noticeably increased. This was confirmed by the results of both the theoretical and practical parts of the competition. Although we tried to make the tasks more complicated, brought “extra” tools to the workshop - the challenge was to select strictly definite thread gauges from a variety of instruments. Young people coped with the task brilliantly, using everything consciously and in the right way. And also successfully coped with the theory.

This year we organized a challenge on social networks in order to attract students from other colleges in the future and to interest young people. We want to expand this outside our city with this program, with including students being taught other professions in the competition. For example, conduct it among future IT specialists. By the way, this year two students, boy and girl from Kolchugino College have already come to us for practical training - especially in the IT field.

Students see that career path in our company is very open and clear: young people come to us for practice, start as operators, after can become technicians, get higher education, occupy an engineering position and move forward step by step.
Prospects for the winners

Smart League prizes are three personalized scholarships that will be paid to the winners within six months. Of course, subject to good academic performance and timely completion of all tests and exams. Moreover, Smart League winners get additional opportunities: for example, they can apply for higher education at the company’s expense immediately after joining the plant. Such a program is available for all employees, but most firstly need to good performance at the workplace - but for the winners of Smart League, work experience is not required, and their application will be considered with no connection to the competition.

One of the winners of previous years, Dmitry Kruglov, is now not only receiving higher education, which is financed by the company, but in the current year he has even become a teacher at the same Kirzhach College of Technology and Service, where he once graduated and where he met our company By the way, he continues to work at the plant as technician and takes students from college to practice, mentors and trains new personnel, ensuring the continuity of generations of our professional team members. So for smart, diligent and active people Smart League opens a wide path to the future, providing wonderful prospects for entering the “major league” - and the participants themselves understand this quite well!

– The most interesting thing for me was answering the questions in the first round, and the practical tasks were easy for me. The fact is that I have been training my skills in disassembling and assembling mechanisms for many years; I like the process of mastering new engineering knowledge. And therefore, it is very important to be in contact with specific production. I expect to learn something new from my internship. It is interesting to study the structure of certain devices and operation principles. And, of course, the prospects I see at the Beko plant and the development opportunities attract me as well.
The fact is that I have been training my skills in disassembling and assembling mechanisms for many years; I like the process of mastering new engineering knowledge.

– During my study period in college, I participated in many competitions, but most of them were held remotely. And this time representatives of the enterprise came to visit us, this immediately made all ongoing processes more important , and the fact that we were treated not as children, but as adults, future colleagues, also contributed to mutual respect.

I believe that internship at the plant is very important: we get in contact with future employers, can see the part of our future. Not all of our students, after graduation, will work according to the specialty for which they are currently studying, but by participating in the competition and in the course of internship, they will unrestand better understand whether this job is acceptable and why.
Oleg Rybakov,

– It was interesting to test my strength and knowledge, at every stage - after all, you never fully know how good you and your fellow students are. But I would like to cope with more challenging tasks, like solving problems in mathematics, a more complex mechanism in the practical part, to test my strength better, to sit and think for a long time how to assemble it.

To be engaged in real production process is always interesting and a good experience.
I expect from my internship at the plant to develop new skills, get new positive emotions and to use the opportunity to develop my personal qualities.
Ilya Budkin,

– The tasks were interesting and the competition was great. It would be good if the organizers gave a chance to participants who reached the final tournament with a minimum gap from the winners. I am looking forward to begin my internship at the plant with great desire. Because experience is always important, no matter how much theory you study, you will always learn more in practice, try yourself in many areas and make sure that you have found exactly the right place to connect your future life. I would like to find a place where you work with pleasure and every day you enjoy work as ilike at the first time.
