“Conquerors of the Pyramids”
“Conquerors of the Pyramids” is an annual competition among the Arçelik family factories, with participation of unique Beko projects. Projects can be nominated for awards in the following categories: “Creativity”, “Digitalization”, “Collaboration”, “Society and Environment”, “Growth Accelerators”. This is real chance to demonstrate achievements and exchange experiences. We present to you projects of our plant that were nominated for the competition.

Last year we we granted an independent award in the field of ecology, energy and resource saving in two categories: “Product of the Year” (Grundig GW7P77H21W washing machine) and “Best green plant project”. Since October 2023, we have been producing washing machines under special “Best Ecological Product” brand label, which conveys to our customers the importance of the company’s approach to ecological efficiency and allows us to expand our “ecological influence”. The work on this project is the striking example of cross-functional cooperation between the Project Office, electromechanical service, product development and marketing departments.
We plan to conduct a study to learn the level of this label influence at the consumer demand. I see the particular importance of the project to declare ourselves as a strong company - as the manufacturer of household appliances that cares about environmental safety.

We have an area at the plant that we call the “dark room”. And even though there are no dark walls there anymore, and it’s not a room, but an open platform, the name became popular. This zone is intended for functional testing of refrigerators. First functionality testing of assembled products. Last year we were faced with increasing disruptions in this area, and have seen that due to the expansion of the product range, in particular with equipment our refrigerators with Wi-Fi function, new checks became necessary.
But we didn’t have the opportunity to change anything, since the program installed at the plant during its construction is based on a technological platform that is not supported now. We sent request to the Turkish head office and found out that factories similar to ours use the same software. In this regard, we have decided to be the first between all Arçelik enterprises to develop new software on a new technological platform covering all the tests necessary for our entire product line. Additionally, we have improved the workplace ergonomics and speeded up the operator’s work by 2 seconds, which equals to about 8% of this station operating cycle.
I am grateful to all our team members for their professionalism and communication skills. Together we managed to achieve amazing results.

When producing polystyrene foam, it is important to control a number of parameters, including material density. Density measurements should be taken out after 24 hours of drying. The problem was the lack of a tool for instant measuring of the part density during equipment setup. There is a method for determining by weight, but it is more complicated and inaccurate due to its dependence on the part humidity. Therefore, the task was to find a new tool to simplify adjuster work.
Initially, there were difficulties with the selection of measuring equipment due to non-standard parameters. However, we managed to find an optimal solution, thanks to which we were able to reduce the number of non-conforming products by more than 2-fold. Accordingly, we were able to reduce recycling costs. A more accurate determination of density allowed saving up to 5% of material.
The project allows us to ensure stable product quality while reducing costs. This will have a positive impact on both product quality and financial performance.
