Future workforce
First step into the profession
Every year, students from the Mechanical Engineering College, city of Kirzhach, undergo internships at the Beko plant. This gives the teenagers the opportunity to get acquainted with their future profession and modern production, and the company - to replenish its team with promising young employees.
This year, 24 college students studied and worked at the plant. They came to the production site to learn their future profession in practice. To ensure that the internship is as useful as possible for both the students and the plant, Beko invites the most active students with good academic performance and company-specific specialties, such as mechanical engineering and metalworking technologies, automobile repair and maintenance, as well as welders and future IT specialists.

The internship begins in the second year of college and can last from one to two to three months. Many trainees stay at the plant during the summer holidays, because, unlike other companies, Beko pays for both internship and practice, so the guys have the opportunity not only to gain professional skills, but also to earn some extra money. "Beko" offers the students the official employment with a work record book, the opportunity to receive information for their thesis and written recommendations based on the results of their internship, as well as free meals. Nonresident college students are provided with a comfortable dormitory at the plant area.

Students come to practice throughout the year; the training process at the plant is almost continuous. Each trainee is assigned to a mentor - an experienced employee who teaches all the necessary operations. If a student takes a responsible approach to mastering the profession, then within two to three weeks he (she) will be able to work independently and receive not only a trainee stipend, but also bonuses. For several months, the guys are immersed in the work of the line and machine operators, helping to repair equipment, studying the areas of mechanics, electronics, and assembly, and based on the practice results, they write coursework and defend their diplomas. The knowledge they gain will be useful not only in college, but also if they decide to continue their studies at technical universities or work at an industrial enterprise.

Every year more and more trainees come to the Beko plant not only from the Kirzhach Engineering College, but also from other colleges and universities. Thus, if in 2018 only 18 KMK students did internships at the enterprise, then this year there are 24 of them. Many guys decide to stay to work at the plant, because this is an excellent opportunity to enter adulthood, learn what modern production is, and begin their professional career.

We asked students who had an internship at the Beko plant to share their impressions.

Sofia Shulepova,

Technician / Workshop for production of washing machines (washing machine assembly);

– I did an internship at the plant this year in February as a technician in a washing machine production workshop, and then remained to work here.

When I came to practice, I was assigned to a mentor at my workplace, but I worked a little in different areas - both in preparatory production and in the assembly of refrigerators, that is, they showed me the whole plant. It was very interesting to learn how the equipment that we use every day is produced, and in general we liked everything: the management was understanding, I quickly got used to the team, our employees are very responsive.

At first it was scary to work in production, it was unclear what and how to do, but the mentors and bosses explained everything very well. What was taught in college was almost of no use - there was a slightly different specialty there - but there were no problems with mastering new skills. After about a month and a half I realized that I could work independently.

Dmitry Dvornikov,

assistant (information technology department):

– I completed my internship at the Beko plant twice: last year, in May-June, and this year, from February to June, as an assistant in the information technology department. When I arrived, they assigned me to a mentor, gave me a computer - the main equipment in our work, and then began to explain how everything is designed and how it operates. After a couple of weeks I was able to complete simple tasks independently. Literally everything was interesting: in college they only taught general knowledge, but here everything is specific, detailed, you can see how the processes run. I liked the plant - large, technologically advanced, modern production, excellent team. Beko is a large international company, which guarantees confidence in the future, and finding such a job, especially without experience, is very uneasy.

I was offered to stay at work last year after my internship, but I decided to finish my studies. Now I completed my pre-diploma internship, received my diploma and stayed. I immediately got involved in the process, because I already knew everyone, everything was clear. I plan to develop further in my profession: the company provides opportunities for this, and there are prospects here.

Lia Maiorova,

operator of CNC machines (process equipment repair area):

– I started my internship at Beko in February of this year as a CNC machine operator. When I started, I thought that everything would be much more complicated. Compared to what was taught in college, most of it had to be learned anew, and practical knowledge and skills were acquired from scratch. At first I was afraid of doing something wrong, I was even afraid of machine tools, but there was always a mentor next to me, who first taught and then supervised my work. After about a month and a half, I was able to work independently and understood the whole process.

Polina Grigorieva,

grinder (process equipment repair area):

– I had practice this year from February to June. And despite the fact that it has already ended, I continue to work here. When I arrived at the plant, I was assigned to a mentor and given a detailed safety briefing. Then they showed how the machine tool works and taught the necessary manipulations. We had to learn all the practical work on the spot, because in college they explained to us differently how it all works. At first it was scary - what if I do something wrong, break it, damage it. But they always helped me and gave me advice. Over time, I got used to it, confidence appeared, everything began to work out well. I really like this kind of work.

Alexei Glazkov,

operator of CNC machines (process equipment repair area):

– I had an internship at the plant in previous years, so I already had basic experience, I more or less knew how things worked, so it didn’t take very much time to adapt. Now I have practice from February to the present day.

The most interesting thing is to work in the CAM program. I like that this is not just some mechanical task, but creativity, the creation of something new, because the program needs to be compiled - drawn, modeled, edited. And the work at the machine tool itself is also interesting: in college we studied everything in theory, and at the factory, when I completed the internship for the second, and now the third time, I began to master everything in practice and understood how to apply the knowledge gained. I plan to further master in my profession. If they offer me to stay at Beko, I will definitely stay, because I liked the team at the plant, the management, and the work process itself.

Leonid Mozhaev,

operator of automatic and semi-automatic lines of cold stamping equipment (mechanical production workshop):

– I have been practicing since February of this year as a sheet metal bending operator in a metalwork shop. First, they gave me safety documents, repeated the briefing, and showed me the workplace and how various parts were produced. Then they taught me how to work. It was not difficult, it was interesting, so everything worked out quickly.
I liked the plant: there was a lot of various new equipment that was interesting to work with and study. The team received me very well: they helped, explained, showed me everything, and immediately answered questions if I had any. Most likely, I will continue to develop in this profession, especially since I am already here on a permanent basis: as soon as I received my diploma, I was offered a job
