The Smart League professional competition, organized by the Beko Human Resources Department with the production support for students of the Kirzhach Engineering College, as the part of the joint program “From Student to Demanded Specialist” has ended. This annual event has been held since 2015 and consistently attracted engineering students. The best participants according to the competition results, are granted scholarship from the Beko plant.
Julia Ersal, HR specialist
“Modern production needs specialists in different fields. And those who have golden hands, who is accurate and quick in conveyor operating. And those who will operate complex software-controlled equipment. And those who will further advance to engineering personnel, - says Julia Ersal, HR specialist. – For us, as a company, it is very important to attract young people, to provide students with all the opportunities for successful start. On this grounds, we have developed a strong relationship with the Kirzhach Machine-Building College. They direct good young people for internship at the plant, and many of them stay. Over the past year, 13 college graduates have entered permanent employment. The Beko plant is expanding, we constantly need new people. But, of course, we pay special attention to young talents. "Smart League" is just conceived in order to identify the most talented young people and assist in their professional development. Testing helps to identify students with spatial thinking and technical mindset. Tests are carried out in two stages: the first allows to evaluate knowledge in the fields of physics and mechanics, and the second is presented as the practical task prepared by our production workers. It reveals the skills of reading assembly drawings, adjusting nodes, disassembling and assembling mechanisms. Then jury analyzes the answers, sums up testing results and selects the students who will be granted additional scholarship from the plant until graduation, and then come to work with us - just how winners of the Smart League 2018 Mikhail Grafov and Dmitry Kruglov came to us and still continue working with success. This year leadership passed to the fifth-year students of the specialty "Technology of metalworking production" Yegor Mamayev and Leonid Mozhayev, as well as the fourth-year student of the specialty "Technology of mechanical engineering" Vladislav Kuranov. In total, 21 people took part in the Smart League this year, and all of them are really wonderful young people. We can safely call them our future! Also, many thanks from the enterprise deserves the college teacher Svetlana Vasina, who puts her whole heart into working with students, their career guidance and creative development.”

Svetlana Vasina, lecturer of the Kirzhach Engineering College
Svetlana Vasina is the teacher with great experience. She is engaged not only in teaching students special disciplines, but also organizes a volunteer incentive, wits & humour competition, helps students to master self-government skills. Students love and respect her, and the plant appreciates her participation in all events and initiatives carried out together with the college.
“Student training algorithm with direct participation of the the Beko plant as social partner is very effective. - says Svetlana Vasina. - It allows to include a student within the training period in a specific team, ensure the maximum use of the potential of each graduate, and provides an opportunity of establishing mutually beneficial business relations with enterprises to the college. At the same time, students, starting from the third year, become better oriented in general professional and special disciplines, since they can use theorety studied directly during work placement internship. Such students are better motivated to study. And most importantly, such interaction with the plant cultivates respect to work. Few, if any colleges can be proud of such close cooperation with an enterprise. Students, who take part in a professional competition, begin to thinking differently, in more professional and objective manner. "Smart League" allows young people to believe in themselves and realize the basic value of vocational profession. At the same time, junior students look up to senior ones and also strive to take part in future competitions. Even those who did not win prizes gained important practical experience and understood methods of resolving certain production issues. Moreover this directly affects academic performance: the approach to the implementation of course and diploma projects becomes internship-oriented. So students defend their works perfectly well. Thus the college gets students interested in education, the factory - ready adapted specialists familiar with the routine and requirements for employees. And our city is growing and developing. For all of us is important when our Kirzhach children stay in their small motherland, making families and developing their native region.”

“Student training algorithm with direct participation of the the Beko plant as social partner is very effective.
Smart League jury members, namely: Stanislav Miroshnikov, Plant business unit director, Anastasia Reshetova, Human Resources Manager, Andrey Tokarev, Head of Production Processes, Andrey Turasov, Head of Refrigerator Preproduction Workshop, and Dmitry Nazarov, Equipment repair and maintenance department manager, as well as expert coordinators of the second stage - engineer Ivan Vatutin, Mechanical production workshop manager, Nikolay Koblov and Senior engineer Maxim Ushkalov - in general, highly appreciated professional training of students. All proved to be above average both in theory and practice. The test questions at the first stage made students think and remember the educational material on technical mechanics and physics. At the second stage, students faced with the task of visually determining the mechanism (reducer) following disassembling and assembling in a certain time. It also was necessary to answer questions and measure parts with a caliper during disassembly process. Of course, students who already have experience of assembling and disassembling mechanisms at home, in garage or after plant internship, easily coped with the task.
“As for me some moments were difficult, since I am a girl” , a fourth-year student Sofia Shulepova shared her impressions from participation in the competition. - I had to seek for some help from the plant specialists. But at the same time I realized that I need more practice, and to work with parts.”
But for her course mate Dmitry Pakin, gearbox disassembly and assembly did not cause difficulties: “But the questions were difficult for me,” he said. “I had to think on them seriously” Vladislav Kuranov coped with everything easily. He said so: "Everything was quite doable, I liked it." So that's clear enough that he and two of his classmates became Beko scholarship holders.
According to the feedback from college students, they would like to continue participating in other similar events held jointly with the plant. And the plan includes such kind of events. Julia Ersal said that in prospect it is planned to hold a case championship for college students, in which everyone can participate. Moreover it is planned to increase plant shifts in future, and demand for highly qualified workers will only increase. This means that cooperation and good human relations that are developed between the plant administrations and the college will extend and strengthen. Internship program includes excursions for college students. HR specialists talk about the history of the Koç holding and the Beko plant; students get acquainted with all structures of the enterprise, learn about the social support for workers, equipment, familiarize with the quality control system for products. Meetings with plant employees who previously studied at the Kirzhach College, as well as game events for training of case tasks resolving skills are held. Employment of graduates is also monitored. Enterprise management has developed a system of incentives to support and improve the level of professional skills of future specialists.

Today, the Kirzhach Engineering College becomes a serious educational center for children and youth of the region. Here, within the framework of the federal "Digital Educational Environment" project of the national "Education" program in the Vladimir region, a new digital education center for children "IT-cube" was opened. It is another high-tech platform that significantly expands regional educational system. Children from Kirzhach district gained access to the latest information technologies, they will master new tools for research and work with data, they will be able to use the acquired skills in their studies or, possibly, make their mind about future profession. Classes in the "IT-cube" are free for all children and teenagers. Including children of the Beko plant employees.
Skills and professionalism of working professional specialists raise any production and provide the basis for the development of an enterprise, region and country in general. And we have a young, talented team to be proud of.
