Safety Culture
Safety in your pocket
Recently, the employees of Beko plant received new workwear. The labour protection specialist, Lev Betev told our magazine how it was selected and how it significantly differs from the old one. And the Head of the Administrative Department, Sergey Telitsyn explained what was needed to implement the project and organize the purchase of the necessary amount of workwear.
– Lev Borisovich, what were the characteristics for selection of new workwear for the employees?

– Workwear not only allows you to protect a worker but is also part of the corporate culture, which reflects the philosophy of the enterprise. And the new type of uniform with Beko symbols allows you to create a memorable image of the company. The basis of the colour design of the workwear of the company's employees is the use of the main corporate colour. Besides, while maintaining the comfort of employees, the workwear increases their productivity, thereby increasing the performance of the enterprise itself.

Of course, first of all, new workwear was selected based on the characteristics of convenience, functionality, durability. Another important aspect was the specification of the material used: dirt and moisture resistance, ability to restore its original shape after many washes and to resist mechanical influences, and at the same time the fabric should be breathable so that the employees can comfortably work in their shifts.

This is how the new workwear looks in action – at various work sites of Beko plant. Basically, employees note that it is quite comfortable and does not restrict movements. The final general survey is planned for the final assessment of the quality of the new uniform.
– How does the new workwear differ from the old one, are there any functional features, new protective characteristics?

– The kits were specially sewn to meet our requirements: jackets with a turn-down collar, patch pockets and protective flaps, trousers, T-shirts. And surely they must have an embroidered Beko logo. Materials have become lighter, durable and more wear-resistant to provide maximum protection and not add weight, as it was before. The manufacturer uses reinforced threads and reinforced seams when sewing, which not only increase the durability of the uniform but also protect the employee from injuries. In addition, wear-resistant clothing lasts much longer, which means it saves the costs for the enterprise. Another important aspect is that the overalls are sewn with allowances so as not to constrain the movements of a worker and provide him/her with maximum mobility.

– Sergey Viktorovich, what was the quantity of workwear that you needed to buy? And how much did the company spend on it?

– A sufficiently large order for the workwear was formed to provide all employees of the enterprise and to leave the irreducible stock in the warehouse in the amount of 20% of the list number of employees. Total expenses amounted to more than 3 million rubles.
– How do the employees evaluate the new uniform?

– Before launching the project, we gave out test versions of workwear to employees directly on the assembly line so that they could evaluate the functionality and add their comments, which we sent to the contractor. In general, the test results were positive. Now we are planning to conduct the general survey among the employees of all departments and services who have already started using new workwear in their daily work.
