I appreciate our team even more

Our company has been engaged in charitable activities for a long time, especially those related to children's institutions. This time we decided to make a large-scale campaign and give all employees the opportunity to feel these emotions and the joy of really helping others. The idea of this project originated from our HR Director Anastasia Reshetova, who also in her personal life, beyond the company, is actively involved in charitable activities. I am very grateful to Anastasia for her trust and the opportunity to lead this project. Our Plant Director also supported Anastasia's idea and gave his valuable recommendations.

To raise awareness, my colleague, Senior Specialist in our Internal Communications Group and a friend, Anastasia Muradova, developed a unique template that was impossible to ignore. We e-mailed it, used a video wall screen, and posted print ads in the break areas at the production facilities. I was very pleased to be engaged in such an enjoyable work task and had no doubt that our employees would definitely respond, since no substantual investment was required from us. Everyone could make a minimum contribution and thus jointly do a greater common good.
It was our first big event, and we didn't know how many people would participate. But the colleagues did not remain indifferent. Many of the colleagues, despite their busy and tight work schedule, helped, worked hard to bring the necessary things, responded quickly and willingly. Everything that the employees brought, we sent to different children's institutions in Vladimir, Kameshkovo, Vyazniki, and Murom according to their needs.

We were also supported by HR and the Administration Departments. Together we purchased goods in accordance with the requests of children's institutions and to the Special (Correctional) General Education Boarding School in Kameshkovo, and to the Murom Specialized Children's Home, we sent them parcels with things they were waiting for. And now I appreciate our team and the wonderful people I work with even more.

Moreover, our company donated an electric stove to the Murom rehabilitation center for children and teenagers with disabilities.

All institutions were grateful and sent photos of their children with our gifts. It was a real joy to receive them.

On the eve of September 1, our company donated some funds, and we collected and sent 430 school stationery sets to the Kirzhach Complex Social Service Center.
– I wanted to take part in the campaign because I think it's important. Always, if there is an opportunity to help, I will help.
Sergey Drobidontov, Engineer
- My grandchildren are growing up and there are lots of toys and things left over that haven't even been used. Why not give them to those whom they will bring joy? And it makes me happy, because I can help someone.
Svetlana Klimova, Administrator
- In a difficult time like this, it's important to help each other. You help today, and you'll be helped tomorrow. Participating in charitable activities gives you the opportunity to feel yourself belonging to the civil society.
Anton Orlov, Senior Specialist
Thank you very much! Make sure you tell your coworkers that our kids are excited about these awesome toys! And we, teachers, are happy to look at them – they are so cute, bright and of high-quality!
And I also want to mention the packaging and the small bows — by such little things, we can see that you care about children!

Kind and warm hearts

The great Russian writer M. Gorky wrote: “A person who does good feels oneself happy”. This simple truth was tested by participants of a charity event organized in the Beko Moscow office. The campaign was based on the idea of personal involvement of the employees in helping three local orphanages in the Tver region: Torzhok boarding school (Torzhok), Udomlya orphanage (Udomlya) and Bezhetsk boarding school (Bezhetsk). These children's centers were selected randomly using “WhereDetDom”, a special social media resource that openly publishes information about orphanages in Russia and their needs and problems.

The orphanages we selected were in dire need of basic necessities, cleaning and personal care products, and stationery. Only the request of the Torzhok orphanage was different — they urgently needed a new water boiler.

After gathering all the necessary details, we made an announcement on the Moscow office. Almost all employees agreed to take part in the campaign. Some of the colleagues organized themselves into a group and started raising funds for the purchase of a water boiler. Others decided to independently purchase goods necessary for orphanages and bring them to the office, so that later they could send them to these institutions in a single package.

Our charity event lasted three weeks. And based on the results, all three orphanages were provided with small, but so valuable help. Thanks to the responsiveness and kindness of our colleagues, the Torzhok boarding school received a new electric water heater with a capacity of 200 liters. Now 80 foster-children of this institution will wash with warm, not icy water during periods of hot water shutdown for the summer season.
We sent essential stationery to the Bezhetsky boarding school, more specifically, 400 notebooks, 150 ballpoint pens and 35 sets of colored felt-tip pens. The school administration was very grateful for the humanitarian aid sent and even invited Beko employees to visit their center.

We also helped the Udomlya orphanage: we sent there some essential detergents and cleaning products, as well as personal care products. The administration of the orphanage successfully received our delivery and greatly appreciated our help. In our turn, we hope that our joint efforts will contribute to making children's everyday life a little more comfortable and convenient.

From my experience of the campaign, I realized that my colleagues have truly caring, responsive and kind hearts. I was especially touched when some employees came up and said: “If you find something missing, let us know, we will find more options, we will buy more, everything will be fine, we will definitely help everyone. It's so wonderful and valuable!

I am infinitely grateful to everyone who supported this campaign. Thank you so much for sharing your kindness with the world, making so many people a little bit happier!

If you want to help, just look around

I believe that a company in which charity is practiced as part of the corporate culture is on a different level of the business hierarchy, because it is not only focused on making profit, but it has social responsibility and cares about the people around it and its own employees. And that means it's already a top-tier company. For me, the "top-tier" means caring about people. I'm glad that we have such a company.

Many years ago, my family taught me to appreciate the ability to help others, and it has been an integral part of my life ever since. Giving and helping others is an important and constant part of my life. Therefore, when our company sent out information with an offer to take part in a charity event, Alina and I immediately discussed the details, and it was impossible to stay away.

They say the more you share, the more you get. This is 100% true! I don't like to advertise that I help people, I don't talk about it at every turn. But still, charity experience should be shared so that more people realize how important and yet simple it is. Technology now makes it possible to sign up for monthly donations of 50 or even as little as 10 rubles. We hardly notice such expenses, but foundations say that these donations are the most important, because they set the budget for regular purchase of medicines and other necessary aid. It is important, of course, to choose trusted charities or targeted help, as it is so easy today thanks to the Internet. You can also set up a write-off to charity of bonuses for in-store purchases. We rarely use these points and bonuses, usually they are lost, but this way they are converted into money and will be used for good causes. If you have questions, or want to help but don't know how to do it, or know how to do it but something stops you, there are definitely someone around who could help you. I really wish more people would participate in the relay for kindness.
Marina Pak,
Product Manager:

– There are no small things in charity, any small amount covers some urgent need. Our task was to promptly purchase and ship a good water heater for the Torzhok boarding school. My heart was breaking: the heat, the dust, and the kids there with only cold water.

Our guys know a lot about home appliances. They have selected a brand, model, took into account all the specifications so that the appliances were the most reliable and durable. They bought and shipped the boiler. It was a team effort. And I was amazed at how concerned and interested all my colleagues were. We were absolutely united. It's inspiring to know that you're not alone, that you're doing something that matters. It was a new perspective on the coworkers near you. Suddenly you realize how kind and beautiful they are. And how important it is when everyone is working together in a joint effort!
Have you ever noticed that one of the aspects of charity is related to creativity, the creation of something valuable and new? It's amazing! All we do is give some affordable amount of money or time, and we find that we create a new world. I am not exaggerating or being pathetic here. This process makes everyone richer and creates a space for positive changes that impact people's lives and the world in general.
