There’s no such thing as someone else's trouble!

This year, on February 6, Turkey was hit by the strongest earthquake in the history of the country: more than 45,000 people died under the ruins. The tragedy of the Turkish people has touched the heart of everyone even here, in Russia. And Beko employees did their best to help people affected by this disaster.

The tragedy in Turkey turned out to be especially terrible because of its unexpectedness: the first shock occurred at about four o'clock in the morning local time, when both adults and children are usually fast asleep. The survivors escaped from their houses without actually changing their clothes and were afraid to return to damaged dwellings to pick up personal belongings. Nine hours later, a second shock occurred, which resulted in even more terrible destructions: hundreds thousands of people stayed without a roof and warm clothes. To make matters worse a very cold weather that is completely anomalous for this region has set in Turkey.

When the tragedy in fraternal Turkey became known in Russia, Beko employees began to look for any opportunity to help the victims and immediately turned to the leadership of the Russian branches of "Archelik" with request to start collecting humanitarian aid. The most important kind of help, which was required as quickly as possible, literally from the first minutes, was warm clothes for adults and especially for children. Of course, money was also needed. The Beko management in Russia contacted the Archelik company, and they promptly replied that they were ready to accept humanitarian aid: Yes, you can send it! - they replied.
Big collection

All Beko employees were informed about the collection of humanitarian aid for the affected areas of Turkey by corporate mail. The HR team took over the organization of material aid collecting - people brought everything to the personnel department. First of all, the victims needed sweaters, warm blankets, winter shoes - and toys for children, because it was very important for kids in the disaster area to divert attention, calm down after disaster they experienced and feel care from adults. In addition, a special settlement account for funds transfers was opened.
Maing asking to bring items on Monday morning was done on Thursday, but the organizing team had to stay working all weekend: people reacted immediately. And these were not only employees of our company, because everyone has relatives, friends, neighbors with whom they share and discuss all the news. Information that Beko was collecting aid for Turkey spread almost in a heartbeat. Moreover, parents of children who study with the children of our employees made their contribution to the common cause, they collected items by whole classes and sports clubs, administration and volunteers also participated as well.

The members of the Aleksandrovsky district Azerbaijani community have purchased and donated many new personal items for the victims - after all, Azerbaijan and Turkey are very friendly countries, their peoples have common roots - but they had the opportunity to send help only thanks to Beko.
Especially I would like to mention the Kirzhach Engineering College, with which our company has been cooperating for a long time. Students are not rich people at all, but the guys bought things for children and adults in Turkey with their own small savings. It is very important that even from this age, our young shift has intention to help - disinterestedly, wholeheartedly, without any ratings or other benefits.
Julia Ersal, HR Specialist:
Thanks to all of you!

Collected items were brought to the Beko and IHP offices, as well as to the factory. The work was going on here without interruption: everything had to be sorted, put into boxes, each box had to be not only packed, but also labeled with indication of its contents, weight and destination, because the boxes were to be sent by plane, and such preparation even more accelerated the necessary formalities.

General cargo also additionally included sleeping bags, blankets and large tents, which the company purchased with the funds collected in a special account. The assistance was quite active, many people wanted to help, so the fundraising had to be extended several times. Even at the reporting meeting for sending humanitarian aid, there were requests to hold it once again - since not everyone managed to providing assistance, sometimes there were problems with the transfer of funds due to the large number of digits in the account details.

On Monday, February 13, four trucks loaded with 1,000 blankets, 1,000 travel and sleeping bags, 120 tents with insulated floors and, of course, warm clothes, shoes, toys and other essentials reached the plane. Beko paid for the delivery in full.
After receiving the humanitarian aid cargo, our managers in Turkey promptly contacted us and thanked everyone. The representative of the company described the current situation in Turkey, in the disaster area. We did everything right, this help came in very handy, and we managed to help a lot of people in trouble.
Artem Kuybida, regional manager
