We got the Bronze!
This year, the 34th Koç Group International Sports Festival brought together more than 6 thousand people from 15 countries. 594 teams including our colleagues - the Beko & IHP teams - came to meet at the sports fields and running tracks. As a result of a stubborn struggle, our two football teams took 5th and 6th places. And the volleyball players arrived at the podium to take bronze medals. Congratulations to our colleagues!
The Koç Group sports festival was founded by the corporation founder, Vehbi Koç. It is the most important component of the company’s corporate culture, uniting people from different cultures and continents.

– In the quarterfinals we led the game with a score of 3:2 and had to win to reach the semifinals. But 5 seconds before the end of the match we lost a goal. The game ended with the score 3:3 and eventually we took 5th place,” explained Georgiy Berulava. – We will take this experience into account, and I believe that next year we will be able to please our fans with better results.
Beko football players have taken part in these competitions more than once and demonstrated good results. According to team coach Georgy Berulava, no one expected a strong football showing from Russian athletes, but they managed to prove the opposite. Beko & IHP football players have victories over Romanian, English and even Italian teams. This year the team was retooled for 90%, so there was not enough time for teamwork. But nevertheless, in general our players performed well.
For the Beko & IHP beach volleyball team, this year's festival was the first testing of sportsmanship and the will to win. After all, the team was organized only in 2023 specifically in order to adequately represent our company at competitions. And it was a success.

There are no professional volleyball players on the team; basically everyone played at school or university, but regular training helped to develop interaction playing techniques on the field. Every week the volleyball players trained on the plant sports ground, and then found a gym with sand in Aleksandrov and held several games there. The team went to the festival in a very fighting mood and ready to win.
In general, the overall performance of the teams was approximately equal, only two teams (Greece - this year's winner, and Turkey) were distinguished for their higher professionalism due to players with more vast experience in volleyball. But, as subsequent events showed, our team, even if it was inferior to the favorites, but just a bit, and managed to take 3rd place in the first competition in its history and rightly so.

“I think that for the first time our players performed very well and showed a decent game,” noted Georgy Berulava. - Yes, they didn’t have enough experience, and excitement and fatigue also took their toll, and therefore they faltered a little in the semi-finals. But in general I'm happy with the team and its performance. Now we are preparing a closed training room, we plan to strengthen our team with two more players, and after the New Year we will begin to prepare for the next festival actively in order to compete for 1st place.

– My husband, Ivan Antropov, and I have been playing volleyball for about 9 years. And when we received a newsletter that Beko was creating its own volleyball team and was going to the festival, we immediately decided to participate. Our team had only two to three months to prepare for the game. But the company supported us very much, paid for the site, ordered all the necessary equipment, so that we were able to train effectively. To be honest, we went to the festival only for victory, that was the general mood. The task was make the podium, and we had to manage it. Perhaps this was exactly what helped us, since we encountered worthy and very strong opponents. But we also managed to show ourselves. The festival itself left only positive impressions. Everything was organized at the highest level, there was a very friendly and warm atmosphere, even our opponents congratulated us on our victory. We are very glad that we took part in this competition and have already started preparing for the next year in order to achieve a better result.
