Production
Where the cleanliness
is assembled
The washing machine assembly shop is the place where a complex “organism” made of iron, which is necessary in every home, is assembled on a conveyor belt from scratch. Today, the assembly line operates in three shifts, with an average output of 3,000 washing machines per day. The production employs about 95 people per shift.
The how of it

Each Beko brand washing machine consists of various home-made components, as well as spare parts supplied to the plant from other producers. After the above mentioned reach the assembly line, the entire main washing machine manufacturing process begins.
“The assembly line consists of one conveyor, which includes several sections: dynamic group and housing assembly section, main and final assembly section, and preparatory production section,” explained workshop manager Ivan Bogdanov. – The assembly of washing machines includes many separate operations, not only using manual labor, but also a number of fully automated processes with subsequent control. Until this year, we have been producing about five model lines of washing machines. This amount includes not only the time-tested Slim, E-400 and E-450 models, but also a new advanced model range - panel-type machines under the Grundig brand and under premium segment of the Beko brand. Panel-type machines differ not only in housing, but also in functionality and performance. The entire production is monitored in real time: be it the quantity of products produced, number of errors, and even components we install inside the washing machine - all this we see online.
This year, our model range has expanded to include another radically new unit: a washer-dryer machine. In connection with the launch of washing and drying machines and increase in production of premium R-400 and R-450 models, at the beginning of 2023, a very high volume of work was carried out in the workshop to modernize the assembly line, which included increasing total conveyor length, modification of assembly stations, and improving ergonomics and energy efficiency. This allowed us to ensure stable production output and increase our efficiency. The new product is assembled under the strictest control; the assembly results are necessarily analyzed together with quality, development and technical development departments. We study our problems, seek for effective solutions, in order to minimize the number of errors and improve our production.
Ivan Bogdanov,
Head of the washing machine assembly shop

Has been working for the company since 2013. He started as a washing machine assembly line technician, after which he was transferred to the position of engineer, then took the position of quality engineer at the washing machine audit laboratory. So he knows everything about washing machines.

– Our most important task is to produce high-quality products in the quantity required. The whole process, of course, involves people; since production is just impossible without personnel. Therefore, all work is based on direct communication with personnel, because each person needs his own approach, and if the employee is motivated properly, the result will be obvious.
The workshop personnel is united and friendly. All the masters are very experienced and competent in work. Each new employee of the workshop is provided with a mentor. He will be trained either by the foreman himself, or by service person, or more experienced operator. We use the category upgrading system. For example, if an employee comes for the first category and performs well, then after a few months we have right to promote him to the second category, and after another year to the third, and so on. If an employee shows good results after short period of time, promotions can be made much faster. Ambitious people are immediately noticeable: it is clear that some workers love their occupation and care about production. We set a high value on such employees and appreciate them. And we have a lot people of this kind: for example, Larisa Vanyushkina, Elena Ushkova, Tatyana Zhalnina, Sergey Smirnov, Ravil Takhtaganov, Viktor Torubarov and many others.
Common Goal

The conveyor is a special job, a common cause where everyone depends on each other. There is a special feeling of the process unity here. The creation of new products inspires the team. The release of Grundig models and washer-dryers raises the plant status and creates a sense of pride. But everyone understands that such models require an impeccable approach and precision. For workshop workers, a new model always requires additional efforts: it is necessary to inquire into all the processes and examine new components. Many foremen stayed for extra time after work to understand what function certain parts performed. “During assembly, designers help us a lot: they control the execution of operations step by step. This is done in order to produce a high-quality product in result, ” said Svetlana Fomina, foreman of the washing machine preproduction workshop. Of course, mastering something new is always an effort, and first of all, it means trying yourself. And therefore it is always a victory.
Olga Monakhova
Foreman of the washing machine assembly line:

She started her carrier in Beko in 2006, as a mechanic for mechanical assembly works, mastered all the processes, and can tell her colleagues a lot. And she is always happy to delve into any new challenge.

– Our plant is one of the best plants producing household appliances, and we forge ahead. Together with all departments, we introduce new models on the line and transfer our experience to operators for mass production. First of all, production, high-quality assembly and attentiveness depend on the workers, and the organization of the work process depends on us. I am proud of the achievements I share with my colleagues. For example, in 2016 we set a record for the first time and produced 1,602 washing machines per shift; in 2020 we reached a new level - 2,020 products per shift. Today we also set new goals for ourselves and strive to achieve them. What I like about my job is that I can communicate with wonderful people, share experiences and acquire new knowledge. Positivity, professionalism, mutual assistance help us to resolve any problems. We feel useful in our business.
Svetlana Fomina
foreman of washing machine preproduction workshop

She started working at Beko back in 2006 as a Construction metal worker, held the position of quality foreman, dispatcher, and for today she is responsible for preparation and inspection of components.

– When I first started my work at the plant, my first impression was very positive: large space, a lot of people, the release of new products - everything was interesting. I started from testing panels, then mastered other functionality. And I’ve got accustomed to work in our team insomuch that I can already understand mood of my colleagues. Together we overcome difficulties and rejoice in common victories. Now it is rather difficult for us to master the model of washing and drying machines: we delve into all the processes, select components to be installed. We study everything thoroughly in order to release a finished, high-quality product as a result. For the moment it is our priority task. To fulfill the plan on time, a proper communication between the manager and all workshop employees is necessary. I think that our communication is organized quite well.
Alexandra Semenova
mechanic assembly worker

She has been working at Beko for 11 years and is rightfully considered a professional specialist of the highest level.

– Now everyone is worried about the release of washing and drying machines, but I remember the work on washing machines with support of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functions. These functions are very useful: you can start wash in one stretch. I am sure that new interesting models will also appear in future, and we will cope with them. Of course, my work requires attention and concentration. If you realize that you made a failure during an assembly, then this should under no circumstances be undisclosed. A defective washing machine must be promptly detected at the factory and immediately corrected on the spot in order to eliminate possible troubles that the buyer may encounter in the store later.
Executive opinion

When a person feels respected and important, when his colleagues next to him are also focused on results, a special strengthening energy arise even if you are very tired. And you realise that this is not just a workplace - here you find friends, like-minded people who are ready to help and support in any case. Confidence in the company stability is also very important, and we have this confidence here at Beko.
Tatyana Zhalnina,
master

Has been working at Beko since 2007. She rose through the ranks from a mechanic to a foreman, and more recently to an assembly line foreman.

– I really like the team because everyone understands each other. This is probably one of the reasons why I have been working at Beko for so long. There is reason to be proud: not every team can reach such understanding and responsiveness degree. I have not ten, not fifteen people under my command, but about a hundred employees, and we have mutual understanding with everyone.
Svetlana Ignatieva,
mechanic assembly worker

I returned to the plant after a break just due to the friendly staff and stable organization.

– I believe that employees should be aware of the responsibility entrusted to them. Work must be performed not carelessly, but thoughtfully, with maximum involvement. Management, in turn, must sort everything out and organize the work process thoughtfully. I would like our plant to expand and begin to produce even more varieties of household appliances. Currently we produce washing machines and refrigerators, but I hope our product range will expand in future.
Sergey Smirnov,
technician

He undergone his internship at the plant as a student at the Kirzhach Mechanical Engineering College. He liked the team, prospects and work organization so much that after army he returned to Beko and has already managed to engage in various production areas: a mechanic in a repair service, a packaging machine operator, and a thermoforming machine adjuster.

– The plant encourages young specialists in every possible way, assists them in their professional development and career growth. What I like most is the opportunity to express myself and learn something new every day. The hot topic today is, of course, the washer-dryer. Together with the technical development and development departments, we modified vibration welding units, adapting them for the new product. The line is constantly changing, in the race for quality, there is no finish line, so we try to improve ergonomics to provide comfortable working conditions for employees.
All employees of our team are ready to help each other, including our leader Ivan Bogdanov - a simple and open-hearted person you can always turn for help and wise advice. I like to be useful to production and implement my own ideas. In my spare time, my hobby allows me to express myself. I am a musician of the Kirzhach rock band “Pathway”. Work, like concerts in different cities, is an integral part of my life. Thus, the life of a Beko employee can be bright and varied.
